Themes: Red Dresses

I always knew that YA fiction had a fair amount of girl-in-dress covers, but I didn't know exactly how many until I went looking for them. Above I've included just a few of the many, many red dress covers YA has to offer.

The sequel award: The Elite by Kiera Cass
Most intimidating model: Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers

Best use of fog in a cover: Everneath by Brodi Ashton

Let me know if you cheer on pretty dress covers, think they've gotten way out of hand or if you think they're okay if it's part of the story in the comments below!

Love & Leftovers by Sarah Tregay, Totally Joe by James Howe, and Wish I Could Have Said Goodbye by Shari A. Brady

Do you have any Converse? Do you like Converse covers?

Themes: City Skylines

All Good Children

Maybe it's because I don't live in the city, but I adore city skylines. And where better to display them than on the covers of the books?

Brightest city: The Beautiful Between by Alyssa B. Sheinmel
Tallest skyscrapers: The Shadow Society by Marie Rutkoski
Cities on the water: City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare and Divergent by Veronica Roth

Do you guys love city skylines as much as I do?

Themes: Underwater

It's impossible not to notice the trend of covers featuring girls underwater. While a lot of people roll their eyes and sigh over seeing another "drowning girl" cover (or so they've been called). I still ohh and ahh whenever I see a new one!

Bluest Water: Imaginary Girls by Nova Ren Suma
Clearest Reflection: All These Lives by Sarah Wylie
Best Underwater Hair: Breathless by Jessica Warman

What do you think? Are you sick of the underwater trend or are you loving it as much as I am?

Themes: Hearts

These are all pretty girly covers, I will admit. But that's because they all have one common (and pretty girly) theme: hearts!

Edible Hearts: Sweethearts by Sara Zarr and The Lipstick Laws by Amy Holder
Deadliest Heart: The Glimpse by Claire Merle
Most Breakable Heart: Glass Heart by Amy Garvey

♥ Which of these covers has your heart? ♥

Themes: Partial Face

 City of Bones.jpg

The theme of the day might be pretty obvious to you if you glance up at the covers above: we're taking a look at the books that decided half of a face was enough for one cover.

Best Title Incorporation: Beauty Queens by Libba Bray
Best Entrance To Their Cover: Everneath by Brodi Ashton
The Only Guy In The Post Award: City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

What do you guys think?

So we've got some lovely covers here for you today, and they're all focusing on one thing: legs. You would be surprised about how many covers I could've put here...

So, some awards!

Most Lonely Legs: Lock and Key by Sarah Dessen
Highest Amount of Shoes: The Fine Art of Truth or Dare by Melissa Jensen
Most Covers by One Author: Sarah Dessen. She's really got a leg-up on the competition, right? Right? ;)

What do y'all think?

Themes: Eyes

The Host (The Host, #1)
So here's a new feature for you guys: themes. A little place to recognize a pattern in YA covers. If you hadn't guessed it by now, today's theme is eyes. Without further ado, here are a few awards that I think these books deserve.

Most creative eye: The Thirteenth Chime by Emma Michaels
Best cover: Blind Spot by Laura Ellen
Highest eye count: Infinite Days by Rebecca Maizel (Number of eyes: 2)

What do you guys think? What other awards do these books deserve?
