Struck by Jennifer Bosworth

Struck by Jennifer Bosworth

The reason I love this cover so much is that the designer obviously knew what the best part of the cover was, and they capitalized on it.

I mean, you can layer down a cover with taglines, the series name, quotes, and book blurbs, and you can make the text the important part of the cover with really unique fonts or a big size or different colors. But somebody sat back and said, "You know, look at this image—we have a girl literally standing in the midst of destruction. Buildings are in ruins, debris is everywhere, there's even a fire. Plus there's that insanely cool lighting overhead. Let's just let the readers focus on that." So they just added the minimum—very plain, very basic fonts for just the title and the author's name.

I really, really like what the designer did with this cover, and I think it's very effective.

Your thoughts?

  1. I love this cover- I can't wait to read this book, it sounds so cool. I prefer the fonts they used on the UK version of the cover though, it looks more dramatic.
Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier!
