I've long been a fan of the simplistic cover that You Have Seven Messages sports, but when I stumbled across its similar counterpart the other day, I couldn't help but admit that These Girls' designer also did a fantastic job with the image. I really like both covers here, but I think, all in all, These Girls has won me over.

Look-Alikes: Awaken and So Much Pretty
It's funny to me how similar these covers are when they share so little—just an image of a jar. The jars don't even have the same contents in the two different covers. But they came out eerily similar. They've both got a dark, sketchy coloring, a handwritten-like title, an author's name siting at the bottom in all caps in a redish color. It almost seems like they were made to look alike. Nevertheless, I think both covers are lovely.

Look-Alikes: Dark Seraphine and The Rivals
This is a funny pair: I know The Rivals cover really well because I've just always adored it, and I happened to spot a little thumbnail of Dark Seraphine the other day and realized the similarity. I wasn't even sure they were the same picture until I looked up close because they look so completely different. Let me know which cover you like better!

Look-Alikes: Deadly Little Secret and The First Desire
I've got another set of look-alikes for you! While I'd seen Deadly Little Secret over and over, I hadn't seen the other cover until recently. I'm head-over-heels for Deadly Little Secret's text decoration—look at all the scrollwork! And the fonts, of course, are lovely. But The First Desire has a whole other take on the picture, with a new set of coloring, a different focus, and all different fonts.

Look-Alikes: Sharing Sam and Sing Me To Sleep
This pair of look-alikes actually features one of my favorite covers, Sing Me To Sleep. Obviously, while there are some basic similarities, there are lots of differences as well. I love how they've changed things even as basic as the colors of their sleeves and the background, and the effects the two unique styles have on the image that they both started with.

Look-Alikes: Forgotten and The Legacy of Eden

You have to hand it to the designer for Forgotten's cover here: they took a girl's image, changed her shirt's style, doubled and reversed her for a ghostly glow, and then gave them both a hair tint. And that was just for starters.
I like the similarites between the landscapes: we've got two different cloudy skies and two different empty fields. Character-wise, I'm not sure if I like the double figure or solitary girl better—I think they each work for their cover. I will admit though, I am totally loving Forgotten's font.

Look-Alikes: A Want So Wicked and Darkness Falls
I love finding these. It's so awesomely intriguing to see how see how different a picture can come out. Here, I think the huge factor here is the coloring. The color contrast between the two is literally like hot and cold. But I think it's also interesting to see how the photo is manipulated for different means: see how the girl's hair shape is different on the right when she's on the Darkness Falls cover so you can see the backdrop they've included? Or how there's some magical swirly stuff going on behind the title of A Want So Wicked?
I'm totally entranced by these covers. What do you think?

Look-Alikes: Kings & Queens and Revenge of the Homecoming Queen
It kind of astounds me how different a picture can look. Actually, if it wasn't for the uniqueness of this particular picture, I might not have noticed. But after our own Megan featured one cover, I spotted the other and recognized the familiar blue crown, as different as these two happen to be.
What does everybody think? Which cover used the picture better?

Look-Alikes: In The Bag and The Single Girl's To-Do List

The reason I found these two extremely alike covers is that I was the biggest fan of Kate Klise's children's books when I was younger. (They're always written completely in letters and emails and newspaper articles—they're extremely cool, trust me.)
Anyway, I was looking up her first book for YA readers and found this set. They're probably the closest set I've ever seen. Not that much has been changed—it's obvious that they're the same picture. But they still have some different aspects, like how each cover's suitcase has stickers to match the story, or how In The Bag has been color-tinted.
Still, the end result is two cute covers. Which is your favorite?

Look-Alikes: The Third Angel and A Twist in My Story
| |
| |
This set of look-alikes I found completely by chance. I was sorting through books at a book sale and spotted The Third Angel, which just so happened to have an image I knew very well—the same picture I'd seen dozens of times on my iPod, on the cover of Secondhand Serenade's album. (You might know Fall For You by Secondhand Serenade, which was pretty popular about a year ago.)
Do you guys like the coloring on the album better than the book, too? The Third Angel's cover is a little too technicolor for me. But I like how you can see the strand of lights on the book cover, whereas, on the album, the strand is just kind of a background thing.
So this is probably one of the stranger look-alike sets I've found: a book to an album; but it's not the only book I've seen that's crossed images with something strange. Stay tuned!

Look-Alikes: The Angel Experiment and Kindred
This was the first set of look-alikes I ever found, and it astounded me that
something like this would happen; the same image was touched up and designed
into two totally different covers. Now, I know that it happens more often than you'd
expect, and I adore comparing the two and seeing how the two cover designers
differed in their work. (Kindred's designer, for example, is not afraid
to embrace a bad hair day.)
Just a
side note: do those wings look a little small to anyone else? I don't know
about you, but I have a hard time believing those would keep that girl afloat
unless she has some serious wing power.
